it is a little and well built museum in the city centre of Cairns. The art is interesting and there are several things dedicated or made by aboriginals.
Great place to get a quick taste of art. No entry free. There are three floors of art and you could view all floors in about an hour or less. Small gift shop attached good for souvenirs.
This little art museum is really nice! Free entry, which is a plus, and there was a wide variety of art. They had an aboriginal exhibit, as well as a nice sculpture exhibit with (I believe) local people who entered their art into the exhibit. It was small but a really nice place to escape the heat!
Nice place, very contemporary and somewhat advant guard art--good selection of that. Large enough to house different galleries, small enough that you can spend half or quarter of your day at. A very pleasant place.
Fantastic every time I visit. Such refreshment to the soul. David Griggs exhibition was cool. So was the 15' high tapestry of a woman in a white dress. And, the top attic- style gallery nearly always seems dedicated to women's craft - pottery, textiles, ceramics, food gathering quality.
