Excellent modestly sized collection of artefacts telling the fascinating story of Cairns as we know it. Well thought through layout. Very nice building, clean light modern and airy. High quality research and tons of information - you could easily spend all day here if you read every piece. I particularly liked the effort put into multimedia displays. There were interactive computers, audio and visual as well as just written word. There is something for everyone's interest - natural history, ancient culture, modern culture, day to day life, medicine, law, society, art - the list is endless. The gift shop is brilliant and well priced too. A must-see, especially if you visit in the rainy season.

Rich with history and fantastic facts. A must see in Cairns!

Great place to learn about the Cairns region. Kids and adults will love it. And its air conditioned!!

Very informative! I strongly recommend tourists visit here for some basic understandings of Cairns in the past and now.

This visit was so interesting I wish I had longer to browse through. The guide was very friendly and informative. There is a new section which I wish had been open well worth a visit.
